Ezra Octave Mandolin Deluxe

Ezra Octave Mandolin Deluxe

Story

There's something undeniably captivating about the sound of paired strings. It's the same quality that has made 12-string guitars a favorite for generations: more shimmer, more depth, and a richness that simply isn't possible with single strings alone. The Ezra Octave Mandolin brings that same philosophy to the world of fifths-tuned instruments.

Starting with the familiar layout of our Ezra Tenor Guitar Deluxe, the Octave Mandolin expands the concept with four paired courses, creating an instrument that's instantly familiar to play yet remarkably fuller in voice. Tuned gG dD aA EE, the lower G, D, and A courses are octave-strung while the upper E remains in unison, producing sparkling overtones, articulate bass notes, and clear, singing melodies that never get lost in the mix.

This isn't the traditional approach to octave mandolin stringing, but it's one we've refined over many years on our electric octave mandolins. The combination offers the harmonic richness players love from octave courses while preserving the clarity and definition needed for both intricate melodies and lush accompaniment.

Like every instrument in the Ezra family, it's built without compromise. An all-solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, ebony fretboard, ergonomic armrest, premium onboard electronics, and a custom hardshell case come together to create an instrument that's equally at home in the studio, on stage, or around the campfire.

Whether you're a tenor guitarist looking to broaden your palette or a mandolin player searching for a fresh take on a familiar instrument, the Ezra Octave Mandolin offers a voice that's bigger, richer, and truly inspiring.
